Health Canada Updates
As part of the Government of Canada's vision for a Healthy Canada, the Healthy Eating Strategy aims to improve the food environment in Canada to make it easier for Canadians to make the healthier choice. Under the Strategy, several complementary and mutually-reinforcing initiatives work together to improve healthy eating. These initiatives include revising Canada's Food Guide; introducing front-of-package labelling to quickly highlight foods high in sugars, sodium, and saturated fat; improving food quality by eliminating industrially-produced trans fat and reducing sodium in processed foods; and, protecting vulnerable populations by restricting the commercial marketing of unhealthy foods and beverages to children.
Learning Objectives:
This session aims to raise awareness on the Government of Canada's Heathy Eating Strategy and provide updates to participants on its related initiatives.
