In this seminar, Dr. James McCormack will discuss some of his experiences evaluating and interacting with the media and  will look at the evidence and stories behind the Dr. Oz Show, anti-aging creams, nutrition, medical news and much, much more. At the end, he will discuss what all of us as health care providers should be doing to help improve how medical information is disseminated to health professionals and the general public.

Malnutrition poses a significant burden on the health and economic outcomes of patients across different settings of care. Identification and treatment of malnutrition through nutrition-focused quality improvement programs (QIP) has been found to be effective in acute and post-acute settings of care in reducing hospital admissions/readmissions, hospital length of stay, healthcare resource use and costs. In this presentation, we will discuss the economic burden of malnutrition, the effectiveness of nutrition QIPs on improving patient health and economic outcomes of at-risk/malnourished patients across the continuum of care and different approaches to implementing similar QIPs at one’s institution.
