Central Venous Catheter Care and Maintenance


Olivia will briefly review the various types of central venous catheter (CVC) used for parenteral nutrition at home. She will also examine the general practice related to administration of PN, care of CVC such as flushing, dressing, securement device and site protection when bathing or showering.

Speaker: Olivia Saqui, RN, BScN, MAEd 

Bio:  Olivia Saqui, RN, BScN, MAEd Olivia spent more than 38-years of her illustrious career as the Clinical Nurse Specialist at University Health Network’s Parenteral Nutrition Program.  She spoke internationally, collaborated with researchers, authored and co-authored several studies specifically related to safe practice delivery of PN in adult patients; central venous catheter infections; quality of life improvement with patients living with PN to name a few.  She is revered as one of the few nursing leaders and subject matter expert by the community, industry partners and other HPN programs across Canada.
