Speaker: Nicole Anderson B.Sc., RN- Home Parenteral Nutrition Program Edmonton, Alberta

"I’ve been a Registered Nurse for 14 years. Previous experience in critical care and home antibiotic therapy infusions. Although my journey with the home PN program just started, I look forward to the new experience in my career. I value hearing patient experiences during their health care journey; and feel it is important to understand their perspective to improve health care."

Speaker: Adela Delgado, B.Sc., RD - Northern Alberta Home TPN Program (Adults)

Adela Delgado, has been a registered dietitian for Adult Patients on The Northern Alberta Home TPN Program since July 2017. She graduated from the University of Alberta in 2004 with a BSc. in Nutrition & Food Sciences & completed her Dietetic Internship at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital in 2005. Since graduating she has worked in acute care hospitals in ON & AB in the areas of neurology, orthopedics, general surgery, & critical care. Her interest in Total Parenteral Nutrition was almost immediate, and she received a lot of practice writing PN orders in the acute care setting, while working at the University of Alberta Hospital.

Home TPN became an increasing interest as she would often provide coverage for her friend, office mate, colleague & mentor Holly Ames. Holly had been the RD with HPN for more than 20 years, and it was obvious that she worked with a great team, and deeply cared about her patients – hard shoes to fill indeed. Adela jumped at the chance to transition into the HPN program after Holly’s retirement in 2017 and has not looked back. Following in Holly’s footsteps, Adela strives to provide the best possible care for patients with intestinal failure and finds that working with this patient population is very rewarding. She looks forward to many more years with the HPN crew!
