Welcome to the CNS 2020 Annual Conference in Edmonton, Alberta
IMPORTANT NOTICE - Mar. 17, 2020: Due to the global COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, the Canadian Nutrition Society (CNS) has made the difficult and disappointing decision to cancel the CNS 2020 Annual Conference that was to be held in Edmonton from May 7-9, 2020. Ensuring the health, safety and well-being of our members, attendees, sponsors, speakers, chairs and special guests is of primary importance. We also recognize that many of our network is being impacted by issues related to COVID-19 which inhibits capacity.
We are so proud of the program that was developed for this year's 10th anniversary conference. That being said, it is our hope that we can move much of this program to our 2021 conference that is being held in Quebec City from April 29th to May 1, 2021. In the coming weeks we will be exploring the feasibility of making this a reality.
CNS received more than 170 abstracts that will continue to be published in our society's journal of Applied Physiology, Nutrition and Metabolism (APNM) in an upcoming issue. Late-breaking abstracts that are accepted will be profiled on the CNS website. We will also be looking at creative ways that we can continue to offer the 2020 Oral & Poster Award Competitions. Please stay tuned for information about this in the coming weeks.
If you have already registered for the CNS conference, you will receive a full refund in the coming days. If you booked accommodations at our conference hotel – the Hilton Doubletree – you will be able to cancel without penalty.
We are deeply disappointed and sad about this situation - but recognize that everyone is struggling with the challenges of COVID-19. Thank you for your understanding and patience - we hope that you and those close to you will continue to be well in the weeks and months ahead.
Sincerely,
Andrea Grantham
CNS Executive Director
The CNS Annual Conference will take place from May 7-9, 2020 at the Edmonton Convention Centre in Edmonton, AB.
This year's conference marks CNS's 10th Anniversary since its launch in 2010 after the merger between the Canadian Society for Clinical Nutrition and the Canadian Society for Nutritional Sciences. CNS was in Edmonton for its first ever annual conference, and we are back again to celebrate this important milestone in 2020. There will be a lot of sharing of memories and stories about our past and through the years. We hope you will join us as we reminisce and celebrate!
The CNS Annual Conference is a forum for the presentation of scientific research spanning basic, regulatory/policy, clinical and community nutrition research. It offers an exceptional learning environment and brings together a range of expertise, including food and nutrition researchers, healthcare professionals, opinion leaders, industry representatives, government officials, and future leaders.
Our conference program is dynamic, and brings some of the best expertise together to offer a high quality learning experience for all of our delegates. This is tied to great opportunities to view new research through our Poster and Oral presentations, our exhibition, as well as the chance to be inspired by some of our exceptional award winners. #CNS2020Edmonton
