Description:
The Confidence and Competency in Malnutrition Hands-on Virtual Workshop targets community / primary care dietitians who provide malnutrition care to patients across Canada. This one-day (10am-3pm) event will deliver a suite of resources to attendees, and will aim to provide knowledge translation activities to enable the implementation of best practices for nutrition screening, assessment, intervention and evaluation within their practice. By the end of this workshop, attendees will be able to integrate quality improvements seamlessly within best practices for malnutrition management. Participants will have the opportunity to join a vibrant, Canada-wide primary care malnutrition community of practice.

Learning Objectives:
- Explain the importance of malnutrition as a priority area in primary care practice
- Describe the components of nutritional assessment for treating malnutrition
- Identify what tools are available, and demonstrate how they are used in the process of screening, asseessing and treating for malnutrition
- Relate strategies on how to engage multiple healthcare sectors (i.e. primary care, hospital, community services)
- Describe challenges and successes, and identify solutions and best practices in malnutrition screening
- Recall what vulnerable populations should be targeted
- Outline next steps in the development of a community of practice for on-going support and training
