Membership Categories
CNS memberships operate on a calendar year format - Join or renew after September 1, 2021 and your membership will run until December 31, 2022!
Active Membership:
Any individual who is a graduate of a post-secondary institution with a degree in a nutrition-related discipline and is employed in nutrition or a related field in government, health care, research or education may join CNS as an Active member.
$160 + applicable tax join below
Associate Membership:
Any individual who is a member of a provincially regulated health care profession and is not actively engaged in nutrition in his/her employment may join CNS as an Associate member.

Emeritus Membership:*
Any individual that has been an Active/Associate CNS member in good standing for at least 5 years, is over the age of 65, and has retired from professional life in a remunerative capacity may join CNS as an Emeritus member. Emeritus members will receive the same benefits as Active/Associate CNS member.

Young Professional Membership:**
Any individual who has graduated within the last two years from a post-secondary institution with a degree in a nutrition-related discipline, and is employed in nutrition or a related field in government, health care, research or education may join CNS as a Young Professional member. Young professional members share the same rights and privileges as Active Member, but pay a lower fee to allow them to transition from student to active member status without financial hardship.

Student Membership (Graduate level):***
Any individual who is enrolled in and carrying at least a fifty percent (50%) course load for a graduate or post-graduate program of nutritionally oriented study may join CNS as a Student member***.

Student Membership (Undergraduate level):***
Any individual who a full-time student in an undergraduate program at an accredited Canadian institution is eligible to apply. Proof of status is required***.

*** All eligible CNS Student (Undergraduate level) members must be endorsed/sponsored by an existing CNS Active member (including joint ASN, ESPEN, ASPEN) in good standing. This affirmation can be sent by email to info@cns-scn.ca or formal letter from the CNS member.
Joint CNS / ASN Active Membership:
Joint CNS/ASN (American Society of Nutrition) membership is offered to CNS members within the Active category. Joint members will receive benefits from both CNS and ASN (CLICK HERE for information on ASN benefits.)

Joint CNS / ASN Young Professional Membership:**
Any individual within two years of receiving a doctorate degree is eligible to apply or young professional who has completed a nutrition or related degree with the past three years.

Joint CNS / ESPEN Active Membership:
CNS members can now purchase joint CNS/ESPEN (European Society for Clinical Nutrition & Metabolism) memberships within the Active membership categories. Joining ESPEN via CNS results in a savings of approximately $40 CDN compared to the cost of joining ESPEN directly.
